Quality - Problem Solving Expert (Six Sigma Black Belt)
Supports the region on solving chronic/complex problems related to process and design issues and concerns and Advance Product Quality Planning [APQP.] Develops action plans to identify and address systemic root cause analysis and systemic solutions for issues managed by Tecumseh Products Corporate Quality. Monitors global quality operational performance and works with the regions to assure systems are addressed in problem solving. Work with regional quality leads to review and approve problem solving results. Support the Kaizen teams on basic problem-solving skills development and problem-solving mindset development.

Problem Solving
- Works directly with regional teams on complex and or chronic problem solving
- Leads manufacturing and engineering support teams in problem solving reviews of leading issues to drive systemic root cause analysis and systemic permanent corrective actions:
- Assures problem statements are defined in actionable form
- Guides regional problem-solving teams in effective problem solving
- Guides regional teams in actions and tasks developed to support problem solving
- Suggests appropriate tools to be utilized in problem solving for specific issues
- Reviews data and uses statistical tools to support problem solving
- Applies appropriate problem solving and statistical methods to identify and evaluate systemic root cause
- Develops new approaches as required to identify root cause
- Enforces use of the global master problem solving workbook
- Approves final 8Ds

Problem solving enhancement
- Works with regional quality teams to improve problem solving skill sets
- Skill set analysis
- Support, provide and arrange problem solving training as needed
- Manages global open issues list and status to closure
- Holds regular reviews of open issues status
- Audits corrective actions
- Validation of root cause
- Verification of permanent corrective actions
- Recommends policy and or procedural improvements predicated on results of problem solving
- With regional warranty managers, utilizing statistical methods identifies leading contributors of product field failures and assures issues are identified and tracked
- Prepares reports and keeps leadership abreast of significant issues or developments
- Assures, when appropriate, the Emerging Issues Escalation Protocol is followed
- Prepares and presents technical presentations of significant and complex issues to the management team
- Works with regional quality teams to improve problem solving skill sets

Advance Product Quality
- Engages with program development and launch teams to assure the management and delivery of New Product Development System Quality deliverables through application of APQP principles and expectations
- Maintains past problem history report and generates quality improvement roadmap
- Supports manufacturing with problem solving of launch readiness issues and concerns
- Applies statistical concepts to support process capability calculations and process and product readiness

- Plays active role on quality management teams within the global organization.
- Performs job functions in accordance with established policies and procedures.
- Contributes with the production, organization and management of quality procedures, manual, management processes.

Education/Experience:
- Bachelor’s Degree in electrical or mechanical engineering.
- Minimum 10 years of prior work experience in quality/manufacturing.
- Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, ability to multi-task and prioritize effectively.
- Specific knowledge, education and training in Quality disciplines is required, including ISO/IATF 16949, Continuous Improvement, Total Quality Management, PPAP, FMEA, Shainin System, Control Plans, DOE, and SPC and other statistical acumens.
- Black belt (or similar) with proven record of accomplishments is mandatory

Technical Requirements:
- Candidates must demonstrate solid skills in communication, interpersonal relations, and ability to inspire individuals to improve performance.
- Ability to independently address issues with effective decision-making skills.
- Able to effectively communicate in both written and verbal form both internally and externally.
- Advanced Quality Planning including familiarity with the AIAG Advanced Quality Planning and Control Plan standard, FMEA’s, PPAPs, Dimensional layouts, gage/fixture design, and Performance / Material testing.
- Practitioner of statistical concepts, design of experiments, and other problem-solving methodology.
