Position Overview:

• The primary functions of this role are to conduct product engineering activities, analyze design requirements and design innovative new products for wide variety of commercial refrigeration and air conditioning applications.

• The candidate must aggressively be capable to develop new products from concept to production. They will integrate within a cross functional team including manufacturing, supply chain, marketing, and product management.

• Individual must be able to demonstrate ability to drive and complete projects for NPD.

• Support specific customer and or marketing requests for new BOMs or for customization of existing BOMs. Drive and/or support internal company initiatives aimed at improving quality, cost, and operational performance.

Responsibilities:

• Proficiency in 2D and 3D legacy products/parts/assemblies on NX CAD software.
• Able to study and define design characteristics, GD&T, Tolerance stacking, for consideration and evaluation by supervisor.
• Develop innovative compressor solutions that meet specific customer requirements and industry standards
• Work from sketches & marked up prints provided by senior designers or mechanical engineers
• Must be able to participate to support prototype development & Bench marking.
• Document design processes, test results, and modifications for future reference
• Prepare equipment for testing Compressors.
• Supports plant efforts to develop, evaluate, and improve manufacturing methods, utilizing knowledge of product design, materials, and parts.
• Conduct cross-functional weekly meetings, design reviews, etc. as needed.
• Project management experience.
• Works collaboratively with other Tecumseh global design centres and strategic suppliers as needed.

Education/Experience: B. Tech in Mechanical Engineering.

• 3-5 years of experience in compressor design and development, preferably in HVAC, refrigeration, or automotive industries.

Job Competencies:

• Theoretical and practical knowledge in Engine design, heat pump & thermodynamics.

• Must have strong technical writing skills and the ability to follow assembly work instructions.

• Support and lead NPD projects from concept to post release with strong sense of urgency and creativity, utilizing company process.

• Responsible for all aspects of design including specifications, CAD models, drawings, tolerance analysis & robustness.

• Knowledge of materials science and manufacturing processes
