Position Overview:
The Sr. Procurement Specialist is a key role for Tecumseh Products North America team that is on a journey to expand and refresh our product offerings to the commercial refrigeration and mobile refrigeration market. This role will lead and support procurement for new product development (NPD) initiatives, year over year cost takeout initiatives, new supplier development, and supplier negotiations. We are looking for a candidate that can hit the ground running to support new and existing product portfolio of Tecumseh product consisting of, but not limited to, compressor and systems electronics, commodities related to condensing units and complete refrigeration systems, and AC and DC powered refrigeration compressors & accessories.
Job Responsibilities:
- NPD procurement: As part of the new product development team, support by continually identifying viable suppliers, supporting samples prototyping, business case preparation, supplier RFQs, qualification and PPAP process. Responsible for leading the handover process with the supply chain team at the end of an NPD project to ensure smooth product launches.
- Cost Takeout: Responsible for delivering year-over-year cost savings based on assigned team targets to support a competitive product portfolio.
- Supplier development: Lead the process of identifying to qualifying new suppliers, based globally, for existing and new commodities to maintain steady supply to the manufacturing lines, mitigate risks, or to take advantage of new opportunities.
- Supplier negotiations: In situations described above and beyond this role will be actively involved in several supplier negotiations.
- Electronic components: Lead complex electronics supplier development, material purchasing, and supplier maintenance activities.
- Support the supply chain, global and domestic procurement, and business excellence teams with other initiatives such as developing best practices, process improvement, outsourcing, supplier quality assessments, and others.
- All duties as assigned.
Required Education and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree required (Business, Engineering, or related field)
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience in NPD procurement, supplier development or related field
- Refrigeration commodities purchasing experience in a global supplier base preferred
- Electronics supplier development and purchasing experience preferred
- Experience in supplier quality management is a plus
- Exposure to project management is a must, experience as a project manager is a plus
- Experience supporting manufacturing/production lines preferred
- Experience with pricing and negotiations
- Experience using Oracle MRP systems preferred but not mandatory

Additional Information
Travel: Up to 30%, international and domestic; subject to change.
Physical Demands: Lifting a minimum of 25lbs, occasionally. Position is a desk position. Long periods of computer and/or phone is required.
