Assistant Manager – Logistics Planning & Import/Export Operations

Position Overview:
The Assistant Manager – Logistics Planning & Import/Export Operations will plan, coordinate and execute logistics and international trade activities to ensure timely, compliant and cost-effective movement of materials and finished goods. This role will support supply chain objectives by managing import/export documentation, working with carriers and freight forwarders, optimising transport and inventory flows, and maintaining regulatory compliance.
Ideal Candidate Profile
7+ years of experience in logistics planning, warehouse management, and international trade operations.
Qualification: B.Tech + PG in Supply Chain/Logistics (Preferred)
Exposure to engineering, automotive, or industrial manufacturing preferred
Detail-oriented, process-driven, and improvement focused
Key Responsibilities
Lead end-to-end logistics planning including inbound, outbound, domestic, and international shipments
Manage import and export operations covering documentation, customs compliance, freight coordination, and regulatory requirements
Oversee warehouse operations, inventory control, stock accuracy, and material flow
Ensure proper material identification, handling, storage, and preservation to avoid losses and damages
Monitor inventory levels and maintain ERP-based stock databases
Drive 5S, Kaizen, and continuous improvement initiatives within logistics and stores operations
Coordinate with suppliers, freight forwarders, customs agents, and internal stakeholders to ensure on-time deliveries
Maintain logistics records, KPIs, reports, and management presentations.
Job Specifications / Skills
Strong experience in import/export logistics and shipment planning in manufacturing environment
Hands-on knowledge of ERP systems (Oracle/SAP preferred)
Proficient in MS Office, especially Excel and reporting tools
Sound understanding of customs procedures, documentation, and compliance
Strong leadership, team coordination, and problem-solving skill.
